Miss Deaf Jamaica 2010: Cassandra Whyte

On December 18, 2010, Miss Deaf Jamaica was launched to a huge applaud. Even the evening rain could not dampen the spirits of the event. Many members of the Deaf community turned out to show their support and love, which made the event a success. The 8 contestants stood tall and gave their best.

Miss Jamaica World 2005, Terri-Ann Reid was in attendance and was also one of the judges. Miss Jamaica World 2010 1st Runner-Up and Miss Jamaica International, Miss Kelly Moxam was presented and helped with the crowning of the winner. Miss Jamaica Beauty Body 2007, Debbie Hall was also in attendance. Miss Jamaica World 2010, Chantal Raymond, Miss Jamaica World 2006, Sara Lawrence and Miss Jamaica World 1983, Cathy Levy who were all slated to attend, gave their apologizes as they had previous engagements to attend to.
Baskets donated by Red Stripe was given to the girls, Swimsuits wore by the contestants were donated by Island Grill, Dresses wore by three girls, were sponsored by Purity Bakery and Sashes, Crown, tiaras and a Gym membership worth ($60,000) was sponsored by Spartan Health Club.
We wish to thank everyone who made this event a success. We could not have done this without the help from the sponsors and we thank them from the bottom of our heart. Special thanks to our decorator who did a enormous job of making the place as beautiful as possible. Thanks to all volunteers who worked tirelessly and the committees who gave 200% in making this event a success. Thanks to our interpreters, Mrs Wisdom and Miss Antoinette Aiken for helping out.
Great thanks to each and everyone of the 8 contestants who thrilled the audience and made the first ever Miss Deaf Jamaica a great success. I could not have done this without the help of the man upstairs who blessed us all with the energy, strength, and ability to pull this off. Last but not least, thanks to families, make-up artists, friends, sound-men, Lister Mair/GIlby Dancers, Danny Williams Primary School Dancers, Anthony and Zandrea, and everyone else who turned out and bless this event.
Thanks again and I look forward to a bigger, and better event next year and greater success through better collaborations with the sponsors, friends, families and committees. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Miss Deaf Jamaica Team.
